Who Is This Guy?
Still Standing...
…after over 25 years of making games
I’ve been doing this for a while now. I’ve had the great pleasure of working with fantastic teams at studios such as Westwood, Ensemble, Robot, Playful, and BonusXP. I’ve seen projects go well and I’ve seen them end badly.
I like a lot of games
I play a lot of games, and I enjoy finding the fun even in the bad stuff.
My tastes run mostly to PC games, but I’ve owned my fair share of consoles too, and dabbled with mobile games. I like and play big-budget triple-A stuff, but my collection includes a ton of indie experimental titles as well.
Also I work in a home office surrounded by shelves filled with board games. I’m out of space, though, so I can’t buy any more until I get rid of a few.
I think a lot about game Development
- A game can't succeed if doesn't ship
- There isn't one "right way" to make games
- Different teams need different processes
- Grade on intent; most devs are trying to do the right thing
- We only stop learning when we're dead
